0:00:00Intro
Play from 0:00:00 what's up everybody we are back bid Journey Fast Hours podcast welcome I'm still trying to think of a new intro for this show uh I keep putting it off you know it's it's man I just I feel like we need a curveball in here now that we're like on season two officially right season season season two I mean season 2 2025 right I figured like Fair yeah you know just like a way to break it up but we go to we got to come hard with that I I got to think on that a little bit uh a little bit more I haven't had the mental capacity but dude super excited to be back I love that it's just you and me on this one it feels long overdue I also feel like today you and I have been chatting a lot like throughout the week not that we've had a lot of time to chat either I mean we've both been slammed but the one thing I think we both have
Play from 0:00:47 been excited about is mood boards let's come back let's come back to mood boards we talked about it a couple weeks ago we were still trying to figure it out it was brand new you and I have spent I think a lot of time in the last two weeks really diving deep into this stuff I think probably diving deeper than most anybody I've seen so I'm excited for this one because I think we're going to we're going to share a few things that maybe we've uncovered in that process how you can start to maybe create mood boards that are a little bit more predictable hopefully unlock a few things in there as well but um yeah man uh get a started what's going on what's going on in New York what's going on with Rory Flynn uh Midjourney Master over there oh it's cold man it's so cold and good because then I can lock myself
Play from 0:01:34 and do you know lock myself in and do this stuff but feeling a little grizzled right now got a you look a little grizzled I'm looking a little grizzled not like you but grizzled I got a I got a wedding tomorrow so I put off the haircut an extra week to try and keep the you know keep the keep the fade tight and keep the beard manicured and uh you know when that when that happens I start to look like a homesteader out in the uh you know the Alaskan Wilderness but know what that's the kind of person I want to be trapped in the wilderness with though you know that's who I am at heart that's my soul I believe that dump in the woods and let me and just let me you know let me let me move you're about two weeks removed from being Leonardo Dicaprio and the Revenant right now we might have to bring up some pictures from Co at some
Play from 0:02:20 point just to show just to show the the breadth of of what Grizzly Adams beard looked like that's a great call yeah we we all were at our lowest I think at some point in that Co Journey like for for me it was like okay I'm starting to get some gray hair this be a great time to try dying my hair for the first time put my wife in charge of that yeah I put my wife in charge of that my hair was red turned orange and red literally you got the grandma treatment dude and then we tried dying it again dying it again didn't work you know and so it was like three times deep it was like yo uh what are we going to do here cuz I can't this literally shaved my head dude I just went back to yeah just went back to like buzz cut you
Play from 0:03:05 know down to a two you know or a one I can't even remember but did you do the Rick Ross did you grow the beard out and just have the bald head like just man dude I can't grow like this this is about as much as this really happens right here to be honest okay because we my friends and I will randomly pull it out from like the darkest days of Co just like share the pictures of each other like we have them all saved cuz we were just gross like it was so funny watching like all of our wives girlfriends whatever they all look normal throughout the whole process you know maybe their hair got a little longer like maybe you know sorry Mom aunts whatever maybe got a little grayer because they weren't going to the you know to the hair salon but like you look at the women normal you look at the men cavemen like like we were noted I'm G to
Play from 0:03:51 go back and I'm going to go back and look at that just to just to validate 100% is also the thing with the the thing with not having a haircut is like most guys right we're getting haircuts like every three weeks maybe every four weeks cuz you know me I get that just you guys will know what week we're at in the progression every week by like the way two to four weeks for me you know like three feels like I'm starting to get to the stretch point four is like I just haven't had time to get in there so it's it's just got pushed to four two is like oo like I'm really you know I want to keep it tight you know I don't want to get too loose so because we were also also how about like when during Co I'm curious like for you were you were you already fully a remote at
Play from 0:04:37 that time okay so for me that was like the first time I'd ever taken like a fully remote job and it just so happened to be right like two weeks before Co hit uh so it was already a new experience and I was actually when I was doing this my office down here like it was just getting started and uh yeah I just kind of felt like cuz there's no windows down here either you know I had like half the room you know maybe decorated at that point like it was just like this Barren little room and it was just like dude this is depressing and you loved it but then you then you start it yeah yeah I did kind of love it yeah I was I was really big into doing the stock stuff at that time I was trading stock like crazy during that time um I was so busy during Co I had like the opposite Co experience because I was still freelancing a lot so I had like four jobs I was just working
Play from 0:05:23 the entire time busting it yeah like everyone was having like a good time drinking during the day like not you know playing video games and stuff and I'm like I have no life right now even though I can't do anything I still can't do anything yeah bro yeah but it was It was kind of nuts cuz I you know I remember going talking to my barber I'm like yo do you have any do you have any dudes you would suggest on like YouTube for how to do like a fade or whatever I'm like screw it who cares no one's going to see my hair anyway wasn't that kind of like a time where you're like I might just I might as well just cut my own hair like yeah I started doing it and it was like oh this actually like works like I got you know I got the I got the sides and the back the back you I've never tried it dude I've never had the balls to holding the mirror back there like just trying to trying to get it like all even and then I I just left
Play from 0:06:09 the top so it's like I had yeah I had like this pencil head was like my hair went up like this and my beard went down like this hey bro do what you got to do you know we have we have one friend not to get not to make anyone feel weird he's of he's he's Persian but you know he he's the most manicured very very well put together but like the beard started to grow out and the hair started to grow out and we used to we used to have a lot of fun with that one if you can imagine not going to say it on here YouTube because you'll probably ding us for something but I mean we can't even advertise on YouTube because they think everything's a uh gambling or uh provocative image that we're posting allegedly we're very provocative when we talk about you know robot art so you
Play from 0:06:55 know if anyone is coming to us for the first time you know maybe that's a good thing that you're seeing this because it's not you know we're making it through the filters which were really dangerous are not talking about conspiracy maybe maybe they found your survey data from Midjourney they could have man that they they could have they saw this profile code and they like put him on some list oh 100% dude dangerous he's like potential to be you know the uni bomber or whatever but we'll keep an eye on him yeah yeah yeah especially with this look you know it's coming so I feel like for each week that goes by that you don't touch your beard you're your dangerous level goes up a notch you know it's the neck it's the neckline it's once the neck starts to look you know gross but I just like if I'm going to the barber he does it so well I'm like I'm not going to screw it I don't want
Play from 0:07:41 to screw my my lines and whatever yeah yeah yeah like like I really care about how I look obviously but you know I just rather have someone else do it I mean yeah ever since Co man comfortable clothes better than good-looking clothes now and if you if you can do both oh that's the that is key is Comfort Comfort shorts is my kind of vibe if I can get away with that that's like you know we'll tell you know if I if I don't have to wear shoes also that's a big plus I hate socks screw socks yeah I don't do the sock thing uh hate it hate it but dude you know it's like it's all it all changes when you you know I've I've realized that I wear like two pairs of sweatpants out every morning that's about it because I walk my dog and I
0:07:50Comfort
Play from 0:08:28 have to go run her on the field and I get to get wet they get dirty I'm like why do I even why do I even buy new stuff at this point just it gets gross I know yeah dog walking clothes and then like normal people clothes then like dog walking clothes the shoes people think I'm like homeless cuz you know out there in the mud I'm I'm saving shoes until they have like holes in the bottom and then I have like the issue of once I have the holes in the bottom it's like I got to get a new pair of shoes to go destroy them so I'm like you know amazoning $15 sneakers To Go destroy cuz you always got to have that crap sneakers in the AR okay before before we get into this I want to know like are there good are there decent sneakers you can find on Amazon oh yeah dude like really if for 15 bucks for something that looks passable oh oh you might want
Play from 0:09:14 to send me that cuz like you know we all have the shoes where you got okay you got the nice shoes where they're several hundred bucks yeah those are cool then you got your like everyday stuff but then you're also trying to like need the beaters you're you're yeah you're trying to like fill out the versatility of the shoes that you might have right like for example I have like a white pair of shoes with like a carel camel sort of gum line to the bottom of the shoe yeah right but I don't really want to wear that with black so I need a white pair of shoe that's got a black trim right so it's like but I also don't want to spend $150 $ on white shoes with a black you know if if I'm only going to wear them every once in a while so that I might I might need to hit you up after that I'm a king of that we were Miami for a
Play from 0:10:00 bachelor party during Co actually and uh I bought like these 15 $15 sneakers that looked somewhat like that looks somewhat like the uh I forget what they're not Kanye whatever the hell they are like those Flyknit looking niky kind of things that are like 400 bucks and my some of my friends had them on and I was walking around and we were we were just we had a bunch of drinks and we were just asking people like whose shoes are more expensive and they kept pointing in mine and I'm like Amazon baby like Amazon let's go there's some good ones it's like the UN it's like buying sunglasses that are unbranded you know like when you buy like cuz like all the sunglasses are made by lanica and they're all manufactured the same they just put a Chanel logo on them or a Dior logo and that's $400 but you can get the
Play from 0:10:47 plain ones that are the same exact thing okay so fun little question before we dig in what are some of the things that you buy on the cheap side that you just want to look good so for examp like for me sunglasses is one because I I will always lose sunglasses or I break them so for me I never spend over 2030 bucks on sunglasses ever because it's just like I'm just trying to to have it look good enough like I don't and that's it same with uh like I think the shoes for example is like maybe another one like for some of those like more specialized shoes that you're not going to wear all the time yeah um what else like is what else for you that is more of like a fug shoes definitely shoes on the low end 100% because like they get beat up like you're also going to think
Play from 0:11:33 New York I walk everywhere so like there's a limited lifespan with the shoes especially during the winter and the fall when you're outside it's just wet and gross like you can't have a pair of white sneakers for more than a couple months they're just they're just done sunglasses I tend to go higher like I I just I just like sunglasses I I have a bunch of pairs I use them a lot but you that say sweatshirts like sweatshirts you know if you can get like good basics sweatshirts you know on some of these some of the big comfortable you know basic looking sweat you know no branding just like kind of you know plane that can go with anything like that's I'm all about versatility yeah like my like my mood boards and my personalization codes you know interchangeable pieces of a
Play from 0:12:19 hole you do you got to have you got to have a few things ready to go there yeah well let's dive into let's dive into this yes let's get Moody yes let's get let's kind of like start with where what we talked about last time right mood Bo had just released this was maybe two or three weeks ago now um you know I think it was a lot of people just trying to figure out how do I use this right um there was the idea of like how many images do I need to put in here to feel good about it right is it a lot is it a little how tight should it be how loose should it be right some of those questions we've probably got answers to now and some of those things may there may not be a very definitive answer on like I think there are some
0:12:23Mood Board vs Style Reference
Play from 0:13:04 areas of mood boards that I've gone into that it just kind of feels like I don't know that this part there's like a clear answer for this right there just some things that are invisible that we can't see and I don't know how you know they go about putting these things together one of the one of the struggles you know between then that episode in now for me was like really just trying to distinguish how is this any different than a style reference reference and why is it better than a style reference you know because in some ways they do a lot of the same things a lot of the same things and in some ways srf is already damn good so why mess with it yeah and so it was almost like thinking about use cases for this right maybe that's a good question and I don't know if you have an
Play from 0:13:49 answer for this we haven't talked about this ahead of time so it's okay if you don't I don't even know if I do yet why would you use a mood board over a style reference at this point Are there specific use cases that you've unlocked where you're like oh this is absolutely a time where I would 100% use a mood board over a style reference because there's some clear Pro to doing so one creativity to potentially on the other side of it would be like really honing in a style reference cuz I know probably everyone has this issue when you go into style reference use one image right often times we are taking some of that construction of the image over into the output so you know I was trying to do this the other day like ran an image of
Play from 0:14:35 a guy walking in the water and it was like very you know very distinct color palette very unique style and I kept trying to transfer that style to another image with srf or just it's like a different you know version of that one like a bird Walking In The Water instead of the guy just wouldn't it wouldn't stop putting the legs in the damn photo and I'm like this is so annoying so you know like doesn't matter if I was doing the style weight like then if I dro the style weight down because the style was so strong then it would start pulling in like a different aesthetic and that's not what I wanted I wanted to keep it tight so to me what I've noticed is if you're you know if you're using multiple SS let's just say you know because I use this a lot where if I had a good style and I wanted to sort of get a little bit more variation in the prompt that I'm
Play from 0:15:21 trying to do like if you're trying to create like a mood board or something consistent and I'm adding like four or five SRS in there just to give it some variance right I think it just takes that like sort of curation process and trims it down so instead of me having to put five srfs in there I can put five srfs in a move they going to get like a you don't have to worry about it ever again you don't have to go back and track down that exact prompt and back yeah sure yeah that's a great point and it's sort of like a it's sort of like a mashing of all of that instead of having to add individual style references right so like the other use case that I just posted about on on LinkedIn the other day and Twitter was like everyone complains of you I get so many of these people in my DMs like why why doesn't Midjourney look real like everything is
Play from 0:16:07 looks can it be more like flux I'm like great yeah I mean yes I don't think flux looks any more real than Midjourney do you personally I don't either I I see flux image I could tell it's a flux image right away like I know which one's mid joury which one's flux so yeah yeah yeah my my little hack for that was I just went and uploaded a bunch of my iPhone photos into a mood board and it looks like a goddamn iPhone photo now looks as real as it could possibly be and like as indistinguishable as it could possibly be so same thing as like an SRA right like the less images you have there's there's a lot of variables that play in this this is my sort of theory here so you know basically the less images you have in a mood board just like the less srfs you have in an image the more tight and like like very constrictive that style is going to be
Play from 0:16:52 the more you add the more variability you get but if you add a lot in the same exact style then you're going to create a really good like style aesthetic mood board yes so yes use one image that's maybe like a stylized in a very specific way like the one we went over a couple weeks ago my black and white if I just did that with one image in a mood board I'd probably take a lot of that image Construction in the outputs like whatever it was if it was a cow's head you're probably going to have some sort of cow influence but if I added 30 images with all different sorts of people perspectives environments whatever but it's all exactly the same style then start to apply it that way then you're going to get stuff that's you know not pulling in everything from the images so cuz I noticed that with the real images right when I was doing it if I put pictures of my face in there
Play from 0:17:38 like if I had like 10 pictures of my face and then like 20 pictures of everything else the people looked like me right like the people that I was generating off that mood board looked like me so like oh I can't do that I need to do like random stuff so it's not too tight but that was like a really there's like a there's like a I don't want to say a science to it but it kind of just depends on what you're looking it kind it kind of is though because there are no hard and fast rules and I think that's that um I mean that's the case with with a lot of the Midjourney stuff but yeah you know that those no hard and fast rules means that there may not be no hard and fast answers you know like there there's no definitive right or wrong you know I was thinking about that too I was like is it is it more that there's a wrong way to build a mood board or is it more that there's a right way to build a mood board you know
Play from 0:18:24 because I I I think there's more of a right way to do it and not necessarily A I think it depends right was like the first part of that was like do you want it to be creative like if you just want wildl looking visuals put a bunch of different stuff in a mood board and then just generate and you're going to have some really cool stuff but if you want something for like branding purposes like I want to create something for my company and I want to use like a very specific or I'm an agency and I have a very specific client like you could go in theory I'm not saying do this go take like a bunch of Taco Bell images that are like on their social media drop them in there and then you'll have the Taco Bell style right like you can generate that over and over again so you know the style and aesthetic and things like that it's going to be you know much easier if that's what you're looking to do versus going on the broader creative side where
Play from 0:19:10 you can get really wild stuff so that's um that's kind of what I'm seeing and I think you just put it perfectly there is no right way there's no wrong way either it just depends on what you're looking for and what you like so yeah and and if anything there feels like more of a right way than a wrong way and the reason I say that is because like it's ultimately about getting maybe more predictable results maybe not even consistent because depending on how loose your mood board is right maybe that's part of the inconsistency is is what you like in it so for example like I've got one that I created right at the beginning that's more of like a kaleidoscope focused one it's got a bunch of different kind of Kaleidoscope images in there so I never know what I'm going to get but that's also part of the fun of that one versus something that feels much more tight you know I'm just
Play from 0:19:56 looking for more of like the predictability of oh I know this is going to be a good outcome totally that's like like for example let me let me share the screen real quick first off before we get going this is the Pinnacle I've I've wrote this this the Pinnacle of my AI generating right here right that you would I don't think I think I could show this to 100 people and 100 people would say that's real like that's from the iPhone mood board right so that's well you don't even say anything and no one need to say anything that's the thing because it's like remember when we had Phil mags on the show yeah and he was like we were messing with people just to see if they had any biases about hey we're going to tell them that these are you know like there's some AI images in here when there weren't and vice versa you know
0:20:08The Pinnacle
Play from 0:20:41 yeah and how that skewed people's perspectives right and it's like this is no-brainer you don't even need to say anything you know what I mean because no one's going to notice No One's Gonna notice and that's that's always the thing with the AI images right yeah if there are enough pieces in the image if you look hard enough you could probably find something this is a very simple image nothing F really you know like I I did when you sent me this I did look just to see you know like if there was any part of it that stuck I the part that I looked at was that bottom right where the the plate kind of folds I'm like you know what I've seen but I've seen those plates how they fold like that so to me that the jagged edges right like the weird random creases even like some of this little like drippage of cheese the kind of specks on the
Play from 0:21:27 plate I was like come on really y you know the sort of the burning on the crust here the where the where the pizza you know get the sauce cake up at the top it's like this is and you know the V it's nothing is uniform that's why it's that's why it's good right there's no uniformity I I I do have a little bit of a a gripe currently I think it's an oversight um go into do you have Midjourney up I do okay go go into that let's see if this is working for you go to your organize and try to go to the profiles and filter to see if they show up just when you click one mine does not do that why if I click they none of them show up really oh you know what I just tried it now it works literally for the so for the past four or five days I'm
Play from 0:22:14 like this is a huge pain in the ass because I can't go back and find these images like so I had to create folders for them um because I was trying to sort by profiles it wasn't doing it like anytime I clicked on anything nothing would show uh and then I would and then I would click off upscale and it would show everything okay but I'm like I've upscaled those IM you know I've upscaled images in that board so that's you know super weird to me there you go so that when you do the upscales I know why what's the deal with that good point what's do I do grids grids stays upscales don't interesting you know why do I got to do that because there's up scales I'm looking at upscales right now like I see them like this is an I know that's an upscale I know some of these are upscales which is very odd is it
Play from 0:22:59 interesting they they got to fix that but I am also curious about this go back to your profiles piece that you were just on what is that piece to the right mean you know like when it when it's toggled on or off with the red because that didn't seem to do anything for me when I've tried to like just kind of play with that alone what is that there for I have no idea no functionality I don't I don't know because you know I was just trying to see like does this help filter them oh maybe it's if hold on it might be if like you're if it's personal let's let's take all these off real quick oh yeah okay and see if it just kind of throws it in as your default so that's default yeah cuz like if I keep going right you see like they start to turn there we go yeah all right so that's that's how that's how this is working we know that that's interesting
Play from 0:23:46 but like this for an example right this was one thing just to just to start like what I did here was I used one image in a mood board just to see if it would look like in same Theory it works like an SRA right like this was the one image I started with like okay let's just see if I use the same prompt and just change it from you know cat to dog yeah we get it but also right like these are radically different but when I this one I think was lizard right like I use lizard or something like dinosaur or something like that but you still get some of this cat influence right the same way that an srf would so I think it's interesting to note that that you get you get sort of like that same vibe from it hey let's let's dissect that real quick cuz this is a good point CU let's talk about the difference
0:23:53One Image
Play from 0:24:32 between one image and 100 and and obviously there's a lot of room in between but like what what restrictions and what benefits right does does the one give you let's talk through that because I think we've both played around with that I've got one two where I've just got one in there just to kind of like see how it reacts and what it's going to do so I think honestly it's like legitimately you just created an srf code like that's it but it's one image so it's just or it's just in one srf so the same way that it would function you might need to play around the text prompt a little bit but you don't have as much variability as you would with like style weight so it's kind of just you get what you get what you get right um so I think that's sort of what's going on with this one piece when I do the the one mood board that top left was the one that's the one that's in the mood board right that's that's the one right and okay so
Play from 0:25:18 so that's interesting too right because you've got let's just kind of like assess this for a second okay there's not a lot of there's no white on that cat no but it applied White on the dog for whatever re that's that's kind of interesting so let's you know like let's dissect that you've got now in the cat image You've Got Deep black you've got like a gray you've got that like sort of neon red and you've got like that white you know like like a like a soft yeah like a feathered white right yeah these really soft fur textures too which I think translate across but and so this is it this is interesting to me the fact that it would apply you know there there's some creative Liberty it's taking right it's not super tight because otherwise every animal you'd put up here would be black
Play from 0:26:03 yeah for example and every animal that you put up here would have sort of that red tint to their eye the dog doesn't have that it's got some red but it doesn't have it in the same way right what's interesting is it has this red reflection majority of them have this red reflection underneath right like this one maybe a little less but this one definitely has a little bit of this like red glow to it this one's got the eyes more in the red glow this one's sort of got like the red glow on the feet and sort of underneath this one still has kind of has like the feet are in those red glow so it's picking up like these little things you know kind of running with it which is interesting cuz really T the best part of it is the soft feathered edges and the soft texture right like that's the two things that I think it's picking up in in every single one consistently the soft feathered edges the soft textures right like every single one of these images has that that's the one those are like the two things that I'm noticing in
Play from 0:26:49 every single one that it has regard irregardless right yeah so like as you can see like you know obviously hippos aren't black but it pulled the black there but it didn't pull the black here here it didn't pull the black here it didn't pull the black here you know like it has some of it in the fox but obviously a fox is red you know I said like dragon or baby dragon or something like that pull that here kind of looks like How to Train Your Dragon but did you prompt for anything outside of like an animal like did you try like a product or something that maybe is a little bit far removed from that let's give it a whirl yeah let's give it air we got let's take this just CU I'm curious to see like how tight that stays you know within that cuz I've got I'm looking at mine too so I've got two boards that I did with just one image kind of testing that same thing out I've got one that's like a more of an
Play from 0:27:35 abstract art style and let's see that one's got a lot of flexibility whereas another one I've got that's potted plant let's do a skin care bottle let's do a uh Lamborghini let's do a mushroom and then we'll just hit enter let's see what happens here yeah I've got like a bow house one that just it keeps the colors but it's not as flexible as the art one so interesting so we're seeing a lot of the same stuff in terms of The Feathered edges and the colors right like that's the one thing here I'm noticing like this this pulled in green yeah I was
Play from 0:28:20 going to say so we didn't have a there was no green no so this one all in the original image pretty this one to me looks the most or this one actually probably is right right in line there you know they this one's got like sort of that red glow against the white background are you surprised to see the Green in there yeah sometimes it's it's very odd like this one you know similar aesthetic this one probably the most realistic in terms of that so then it's it's it's got that green Association to Skin Care yeah definitely definitely has that right this one's sort of got I mean this one looks pretty much to me it's still got that F Edge the red the black and then the Z dude what did I do here that had to had to give me a skull with the mushroom Midjourney just dude that
Play from 0:29:08 one's sick it's kind of sick like I'll D see this one took the cat this one took the cat with the mushroom and sort of influenced it right this one again looks very much like it but let me just let me try one more thing here let's try soft kitty soft kitty that was uh name of the episode Soft Kitty let's just do like let's try something else like cinematic still of a mushroom instead of a white studio and see how much that affects it cuz that might bring a whole new different look to it which is why I think I'm using it as an srf in this case way more than I'm using it as a moodboard if that makes sense so just like bringing a an srf into this we're probably doing this and everyone's like all right well you know it's just you're just doing SRE right now but
Play from 0:29:53 we're trying to figure out how much it actually pulls in first so I mean this one right didn't pretty much very similar in aesthetic I would say like doing what we wanted to a little bit darker a little bit less of the white Studio still a lot of the white though that we're seeing so you know it's interesting because actually Let's do let's do a person CTIC still of a of a romantic couple let's see how it does people and I'm sure this would look different in various aspect ratios as well which I think okay so this is a good point though right and this is where it starts to maybe become a little bit more strategic and complicated in the sense of how versatile your mood board can be across subjects across Styles in terms
Play from 0:30:39 of like the type of Photography it is or if it's an illustration you know what but that part of it so for example you really like this but maybe you don't you know it doesn't do well on people or whatever right like you're not are you going to try to then go back and update your mood board to accommodate for that or do just say hey look this is what it is super tight very specific use case so let's try it in 32 and then let's try it in 2 one right because I think what I've been doing is I've sort of been starting with that one image and then be like okay does it work no great like oh I like the way this PE these people look here let me add that and then let's see how it generates people if I like the way it generates people like that let's go do you know a product or an object or
Play from 0:31:25 a car or just sort of like broad categories to get like the vibe down of like how we want things to look that way if you want it more tight right so obviously this starts to look a little bit different in different aspect ratios like here we get more definition of the face than just like the Silhouettes and the soft feathered edges right same thing with right here this looks totally different these than they did in you know down here where they all look pretty much similar in this 3 four or 56 sort of alignment so you know it's interesting how the different ratios play on it too cuz like I've I've noticed that feels like a lot of what the mood board's trained on like it's kind of it's also pulling in some composition as well what's your what's your thought on this this has been on my mind a lot running just the mood board
Play from 0:32:12 or mood board with personalization stacked oh what you what are you get what are you getting better results on uh just dumping everything in just like putting putting like 15 as you know when you saw when I was starting there was like 10 things selected at once cuz I I've just been going nuts with some of this stuff right just like putting in N or if we click on one of these I got I'm feeling like I'm getting better success adding the personalization on top of the mood board so I'm almost always running the mood board plus the personalization definitely I'm I'm feeling the same exact way because when I do that I get stuff that's way more you know in my style even specifically with some of your with one of yours here like I was like this is ridiculous you know putting
0:32:30Adding Personalization
Play from 0:32:59 a bunch of profile codes in here you know some of this stuff can get super intricate I mean I can't even recognize my my code in there CU who knows what the hell it is just a bunch of numbers and letters it's all it's all mixed and mashed and like I've been going absolutely insane with it you know just like how like where does it even come up with some of this stuff where taking text prompting and doing this stuff and trying to get this level of sort of creativity like in text prompting is super hard like I'm not coming up with anything that's remotely close to this stuff right it's just so it's so intricate it's so it's so different and that's the only the reason is because we're taking multiple mood boards too and then bashing them together like this is just like a couple profiles and a
Play from 0:33:44 couple mood boards mixed together so I think that's where I'm having the most fun is just like doing stuff like that and just seeing what it can come up with cuz at this point it's all experimentation till we like totally figure it out another one from with a little bit of Drew mixed in there which feel like a poster right there yeah that's what that's what I was hoping for this one feels like something that you might you might have that's pretty dope in a little bit less of a little bit less maximalism sort of stuff but you know I haven't been able to create images like this in a long like I haven't gone down the rabbit hole and been like I'm up at 10:00 at night just hitting go go r10 r10 r10 r10 probably generally like 10,000 images in the last week
Play from 0:34:30 just I got to check where I'm at I'm pretty sure I'm over two now I'm pretty sure I'm over two 200,000 did you really hit it I think so yeah I gotta I got to go back and look what I've realized now is probably why I hadn't prompted for just creativity in a while in terms of just like I'm going to do what I want not no agenda no post no like I'm not doing this to like show something or create like a video and I was like oh I use way more when it's a little bit more ambiguous in terms of what I'm looking for I use upscale remix a lot more when it's like oh this is cool let me keep going with this instead of just like I need a shot of a person doing exactly this to then like put it into a video generator to then go General yeah yeah I would say like for me right now man I I
Play from 0:35:18 think very strong might be my my most fun fun one to play with because you know like now the the subtle VAR has gotten so subtle I I rarely use it unless unless it's like hey I really like the the look of basically everything here but maybe I'm just hoping for different eyes or different lips you know or yeah whatever right like just that small little 1% but the I'm loving the very strong because it's like oh I like this image uhhuh I would imagine you know just based on the composition the colors that are here whatever that if I hit very strong a couple times I'm going to see some more bangers in here too and that's usually been the case so I think like that's been that's been really fun for me to play with let's go back to the one image
Play from 0:36:03 verse 100 images thing right like that that argument because I I've also gone on the other side I've got I've got a several on here I'm looking at that have 92 100 95 M 87 yeah you know and so I'm thinking about okay so what was I what was I trying to accomplish there now I don't think you need that many first of all I don't think you need that many I've got one so I sent you that Lake Como one for example very nice by the way really like that there were 12 images in there okay 12 right and so like for those my process there was I'm just looking at these again I took these images put them into magnific upscaled them to the highest resolution because I also want to see if that had an impact I
Play from 0:36:50 do I do think it does it does cuz I pulled in v5.2 and V6 images and they started generating a lower resol U when I was doing just mood boards based on that so I was like huh these need to be upscaled too to put them in there to make yes like I think that's an interesting point to note also if you're going to go more than a handful of images so I would say like a dozen or more the thing that I'm doing and again I don't know if there's a right or wrong we're just sharing our learning so the things that I'm trying to keep consistent in that mood board colors style and probably lighting you know in a lot of ways those kind of interconnect too so I'm trying to keep that relatively tight meaning like for Lake Como like it was I definitely wanted to use blue and I definitely wanted to use orange right it was like that orange and
Play from 0:37:36 teal combination with a little bit of green in there so every image that I put in I don't know they all have green because that's sort of my secondary color but they all have orange they all have blue every single image has blue every single image has orange I would say half the images have green that's I think that's important because right like again this goes back to reverse engineering your outcome what are we looking for do we want to do we want one to be more creative that can just like we put it in there and it just generates in like our own sort of crazy style or we want something that's tight and generates consistently every single time right and you know and I think it depends on like the lake coma one photography right so there are a little bit different rules based on that type
Play from 0:38:23 too right like the type of imagery that you're putting in there so for for photography stuff that I've done what I've tried to keep consistent color style lighting M the thing that I'm adding for versatility within the mood board especially if I'm going a dozen or more images I'm trying to get different camera angles okay I'm trying to get different objects so you know if I want to use people and objects and things and you know places then I'm making sure that those are a part of it if it's people I want different poses and then composition I want different compositions right so I want maybe I want to get something that's aerial view maybe I'm going to get something that's macro right like I don't know if you can hear them sorry but oh you're good that's just that she just went nuts those are the kind of things that I
Play from 0:39:10 focused on I feel like I got really good results out of that and that was it was almost going back to the original blanket pure definition of what mood board is right and you talked about that from the very beginning it's like treat it like an actual mood board and that also helps right and so what you do with a mood board you're you're putting together different types of shots but they all are interconnected right from from the visual or the aesthetic component so I think if you can't remember all those rules within that just remember that because um that seemed to to me to really start generating another level of high quality aspect to it so I'll just kind of like poke in here real quick let's see this so like these these are the these are just like some upskills that I threw in here from the late Como one right green
0:39:48Adding Upskills
Play from 0:39:57 orange pop very yeah I tried some like very basic prompting at first you know just to like try to see how those things so good dude which one that was so good this one that one yeah I love that one yeah love that you know but like you could tell though these all feel great and and the results were very consistent and going back to the magnific point or upskilling point like I think for those yeah each one of these in in the mood board I did upscale so you could just kind of see the like the the quality on the killer you know so that that was my learning you know with that and then I kind of like tried to apply that in the future to other style so this one's more of like a contrasty everyday kind of like photography but this one was interesting too because I trained this
Play from 0:40:42 one on images I took as a photographer there we go so like now going into like another way to unlock uh different components of this like I've already got images they're already high quality let's throw those in here and for this one I was like a one that was closer to like 90 images but again I I wanted to make sure the color was tight I wanted to make sure that like you know uh things like contrast were the same right throughout like I didn't want things that were faded on one and then had deep blacks on another right I wanted to make sure that they all had the Deep blacks you know like for example so there's no yeah I mean I I think there are different rules is what we're saying based on the number of images whether you're going on the low side or the higher side
Play from 0:41:28 there there's also a huge variable in terms of how flexible do you want this mood board to be right is this a mood board that you're going to use a lot of the time or for very specific use cases MH and you know like I I I think it's just it's super intentional let's let's put it that way it's intentional yeah there you go I think intent like a very good way to put it like let me let me sh I have cuz I have extremes on both sides I have like extremely extremely tight and then I have very very broad right yeah so this one let's I'll show this one real quick come back cuz that I think that like the the one you just did is like a is like a great example of a like a blending of both of having like a very
0:42:08Comparison
Play from 0:42:14 tight style but having broad enough to get anything you want like I think that one's like if there was like a bell curve I would say that one's right in the middle like as as good of like a construction and thought process as you can do to basically build an entire style if that makes you you got me on the infinity screen right now oh man my bad so people are seeing our like my forehead like 50 times so uh lips are like overlapping too so appreciate that also though that's a great Point like that that second one I showed yeah has a lot more versatility because there's more images in there I've got different camera angles and because of the number of images I've really switched up compositions poses objects people play things versus the Lake Como one you kind
Play from 0:43:01 of feel like has a very a little bit more of a specific vibe to it not that it can't be applied right but the color and the style of that anyway along with the consolidation of like a dozen or so images that feels like a very like a much more specific use case 100% And that's that's why I'm saying like this is this one would be something that I would say is really tight like I use these all as SRS to kind of create the same exact Style where a lot of it is very gritty super super black black super white white wooden or like super grainy textures right so like this one and there's how many in here probably about like 18 or 20 this one it's very versatile and everything tends to come out exactly the same like if I go back
Play from 0:43:48 to look at it and I hit you know VI Creations here this is take this filter off sounds like both of our dogs are uh having a good time yeah everybody's here today so like everything generates pretty much in a in a style that looks exactly so I created it's almost like an srf or like a srf code so it would just be like very similar every single time now the difference here is like one like where is this ethereal one so this one 30 images I have you know x-ray vision sort of silky textures harder textures like these glitchy you know sort of exposed effects like there's all these different sort of variables in here little softer a little more electric you know got some more finer grain detail
Play from 0:44:34 right got a little Japanese movie poster in there for you um so this one's like there's no R I think this this is fairly random in regards to just knowing that I want a little bit more black and white but like this sort of glitchy you know double vision effect with some more silky textures less like real grit but some soft like kind of a you know really the foggy sort of look now when I look at these there's going to be a bunch of ones that I have to skip P because they're bashed with a like 50,000 other codes but going back to how it generates because it's so outside like you look at the difference between what was generated by the the really tight one it would all exactly the same as grid this one looks different every single thing looks different I'm blending a lot of
Play from 0:45:20 different styles you know like this looks very different than this you know there's not there's not very similar this one again like radically different than something that might be more like this but because I'm blending a ton of things like four variants now like I'm going for more of the overall overall mood Vibe feel than I am actually like trying to get a similar aesthetic like I just want to play with this one because there's so many different unique elements to it right like it doesn't have to be one thing or the other the other thing that's interesting that I don't know if you've played with or not is using image reference with mood board so like taking I took this image from this is V4 right like one of my
Play from 0:46:06 originals and then ran it through with some mood board codes and ran it through with some personalization profiles and it's like all right we can bring Breathe new life into some of this stuff with a lower lower Image Weight and this so like I've been like obsessed with this stuff too now using images and then sort of srfs too in the same way but it's very you know you can get super creative with it there's no end to it like I keep finding just a variance in style that's kind of mashing all these elements together yeah I don't even know how this one ended up that way but you know you know what um yeah I like that I like that uh now I hadn't tried the I hadn't tried the image reference piece but you could take a style code and turn it into a mood
Play from 0:46:51 board but really refi refine it so for example each style code there's something baked in where it like it's got the style but it'll also default to some sort of like basic imagery as well right which we don't we don't we don't know what that is but if you don't like what that is you can generate you could take a short list of things that you've generated with that style code and now you've got it much more controllable that's an that's an interesting way to take advantage of that too like you don't have to necessarily come up with colors from Scrat like you could just go back and revisit your favorite style codes and fine-tune those you know and turn those into your own mood board in the sense and generate again then you've got the argument of do I want just one
Play from 0:47:36 image do I want 12 do I want a 100 right and then going back to that style of how much versatility do I want to add in here because it feels like the more versatility you add in and the more images you add into the mood board the more use cases you could use it for most of the time I would say is probably the right answer there but I I love what you just said about the SF codes because there's often times where I like them but they you know some of them skew more towards let's just say like cartoon art start going into something else yeah but you know obviously if you drop the style weight down on those like style weight 2030 you get some influence of it on whatever you're trying to do maybe you like it when it looks like that so you just you know you take all the you just prompt a bunch of things at style weight 30 that you like and then you put it in there and then you have basically your own style built off style code which is
0:47:54Style Weights
Play from 0:48:22 you know I think what I've been doing a lot is stuff like that and then it's kind of like mood board feeds a mood board and you know now that you can bash all of them together like I've been bashing them together I've been doing these like Japanese movie posters and things like that that are crazy because I'm combining like seven different mood boards into one and then if I like those outputs I'll just create a new you know mood board with that so I don't have to keep attaching every single profile every time or like you know there you go I think that's another great use case too right that's a pain in the ass to keep attaching 10 to a dozen things yeah right but you can get 10 to a dozen things to get to one thing and create a net new so it's awesome it really is see we're getting I mean like CU this is I I feel like mood boards this episode
0:49:03Personalization
Play from 0:49:08 needed to happen because there are so many people just in silos playing around with it and I'm not sure any I've seen too many people really educating on it yet their findings and that tells me that it's it's tough to figure out so here's another another thing the same way that I use profile codes like I have a profile code that's my Global which is just like I I am overly selective with what I choose in my liking for that like I'll skip 15 images and then like one you know then there's one that I have for a custom profile code moving away from mood mood boards going into personalization I have my Global profile I have one where I rank everything irregardless even if I hate the images I have one that I've built for softer textures cuz my profile code is so harsh that I have one that's just like very
Play from 0:49:53 soft and then I have one that's a little bit more like let me just go and sort of like like kind of things that I don't like you know normally things that I wouldn't select so I have a couple of those right and it's all like very use case specific if I wanted that that kitten if I used my you know the soft kitty from before I would not use my Global profile to try and create that I would use a softer profile because that's what I want great Point yep same Theory with mood boards they don't have to be for a particular style either they could be for a particular purpose so like the realism one that I did that's just like iPhone photos now we have that I have a c one that has like this sort of collage aesthetic to it with like torn piece of paper layered composition things of that nature that could be like another aspect of it you know building in that sense instead of trying to mash all of it into one so maybe you have
Play from 0:50:40 like a black and white photography one maybe you have like you know a very thick graffiti one maybe you have whatever and then oh let me combine I know this image needs a little bit of this let me go attach that mood board to it um so you think about it in again as we always say pieces of a hole layers if you want like a graffiti with a sort of you can build a mood board let's put it this way maybe you want like graffiti on like an ancient sort of like an ancient sort of environment like which two things just don't make sense right there was no graffiti in ancient Greece right so maybe maybe you're creating a mood idea by the way yeah yeah for Greece and you're creating a mood board for graffiti and then you mash them together separately instead of trying glad I'm glad you said that yeah I I think that's a great point that we that we absolutely
0:51:26Images
Play from 0:51:27 have to touch on because there's so many different micro decisions even here in here dude like I mean we've already talked about it do you had a lot of images do you had a few do you keep it super tight do you keep it Loose do you use one do you use multiple like there just so many different decisions you know I'm just looking back at some of the other ones that I I did early on I was I found success in a couple ones like that Kaleidoscope one for example because it's just like a style that feels a little bit more it's the right word like um uh like amorphus kind of like it's just like it's more artistic it's more artistic right so it's like there's not this sub you know this objective thing that has to take place as as a photorealistic image of a person and so that art
0:52:13Motion
Play from 0:52:14 element adds some creative Liberties to the point so I started a lot with like those kind of things when I was first building out this mood board and I did have success with that there was another one um that I did with motion that that worked out really good so all I did was build out a mood board with a bunch of like motion blur shutter drag long exposure didn't matter the color didn't care about the color same kind of thing I could prompt for things that I'm going to get some sort of like cool motion effect on it and so I think that's another way that you could you could think about these things if you don't care so much about the color think about an effect Chrome isn't the best example but I do have like a mood board which that just that's just Chrome um obviously that color is very specific but like the background that that Chrome could be on doesn't have to be specific maybe if I'm not doing everything that's super literal it doesn't necessarily
Play from 0:53:01 have to be you know exactly you know to the tea from a photo realistic standpoint too right so it's just like how much of the how much of an art uh you know perspective are you shoving into this mood board as well because I think that could also be a decision making thing that you're thinking about when you're when you're going about it I think you can also treat moodboards like tokens as well at this point like I've I've noticed that there you go yeah I don't know if you if remember like going back a lot of episodes where there was you know when I was go back to some of the image prompting I used to do when we didn't have style references where it was like I wanted like this person's face but I wanted like a very specific like neon pattern that I generated but then I also wanted sort of like a cellophane
0:53:27Image Prompt
Play from 0:53:46 reflection and like wrinkle to it and then also like this metallic sort of craziness that I wanted going on I used to basically image prompt all three of those things in with a text prompt to get like a blending of it all so you can do things like that too where it's like all right here cell a Fame style or you know metallic style or and then like you just attach that mood board in there so you just get it every time like if you use something like that pretty often I would just consider doing it you know getting a bunch of images that you you know if you like the cell of fame or like the the light refraction or the things that you're talking about exactly like more of the effect or like that that to me is another unlock it's just like if you've got a certain effect that you really like right like that's a perfect like that motion one it's just the example I have that's a perfect
Play from 0:54:32 example because it's like motion can take shape in a lot of different ways it can be on any kind of thing there's no necessarily right or wrong motion you know per se uh in that sense so yeah like those those kind of things I think short list as well the other one last thing I was going to bring up too and I think you did this also but like one other mood board I created was just from style tuner went back to style tuner went back to group of images that I created that I still love to this day and then yeah through it looks like maybe like 12 images in there um you know I just kind of like shortlisted that picked those and those worked great like maybe I'll show I'll show this one here share them up I miss style tuner yeah God that brings that that feels
0:55:17Magnific
Play from 0:55:19 like very nostalgic it does so this one was actually like a mix so so these these this top row were all generated in v5.1 or 5.2 I don't know but style tuner and then I then you know I used these as like the base five and then I added additional ones in after I created from it right and said okay these are good interpretations of the style too because obviously you know now I'm getting better image quality as well so um I actually didn't use magnific on these but I could have right I could go back the reason I didn't really care about this one though is you'll see it's kind of like a more like a softy dreamy kind of thing here which moury feel like super important like the upscaler to me
Play from 0:56:05 for things like that work better in Midjourney than it does in magnific like if you want if you have that soft look like I think that's I think that's a great point I think that is true if you're looking for like fine you know what else okay so the other thing that I noticed I started kind of doing the magnific thing again with some of these mood boards I was messing with yesterday even and I noticed that it was losing some of the color really from it which I hadn't noticed before and so let me actually I'm going to change screens here let's do this whoa let's see I mean that and the reason I bring that up is because like with these moodboards I mean there's a very distinct color that you're going for and so I think like in one of the ones mine had like sort of like a warm uh Hue to it and then I
Play from 0:56:51 noticed when I was putting in a magnific it was gone you know and I'm like what the hell is that about okay here's here it is right here here here's a good example and I tried it with a couple different like upscale settings too so that's where I was like really confused so let's go here let's go here now take take a look at this uhuh look at the look at the Orange and the brown right here right oh yeah it is it is fading so it's like oh okay I don't want that and so I ran several CLI that little button the little um up top left corner where the little the not the download that one hit that and then use reuse parameters I just want to see which what what's on there 2x film in photography creativity negative 10 that could possibly it sometimes with this I
0:56:57Reusing Parameters
Play from 0:57:37 this wasn't though because this this I had at two and three and then I was like okay I'm going to take this all the way down because is that why it's changing that wasn't a factor I tried changing this so I had standard tried that do you video game all right try sometimes the resemblance needs to be dialed up a lot for that like if that's going to be the case like there's let's do this exact one and let's see what happens so let's just put this like5 I don't think it's the HDR you know but like let's just yeah let's run run at like 6 and see if that changes anything go HDR to negative one see if that can do it cuz sometimes I've found you go down on the HDR scale it pulls out some color um it pulls out some saturation at least let's do this
Play from 0:58:23 yeah let's run that and then I I mean you know magnific is kind of like a because I'm not you know you can't run it like Midjourney where it's like here just like R5 and just like and see it you know you kind of got to play with it a little it is say again right interesting it might be the creativity man if you bring that back to zero or maybe to one yeah try that that one going down in tone too looks like it down y huh did you you find a color that's un upscalable no I don't know like and I was just wondering I I don't I don't remember ever noticing that I don't remember ever noticing that so you and that was you know like I have it on Sharpie I've tried that on automatic too so that's not it also Sharpie is the better one for photos anyway so yeah um interesting just just something that I picked up on like you know so that was
Play from 0:59:09 something I was conscious of because I was like I don't want to lose the Warmness of an orange and have this turn into like that brown so again here's creativity at one that's weird it's like gone you know and so I don't know we'll have to figure that one out but I thought that was worth mentioning because that we talked about upscaling yeah but if you're noticing the loss of color not even worth it right so you might as well go maybe different rout huh well that's what's you know always the upscaler get people that are a lot of a lot of you know that don't like the upscaler on Midjourney I'm that personally don't hate it anymore I don't I don't hate it I think I used to but like going back to the decision process for me of when I use subtle or creative whatever it is subtle I'm using it for a
Play from 0:59:54 person if it's a face if I could see their face um or if I like everything about a photo and I don't want anything to change subtle if I can't see like if there's not a person's face involved um or their backs turned to the camera and they're maybe farther away or if I've got some writing on there or there's something that creative can sometimes fix those things yeah I'm running creative on that's my thought process but I got to show you I got to show you this cuz I thought this is a Min this is a small detail Maybe people don't like this I just thought this was kind of crazy that it interpret that Midjourney interpreted text like this which I've been running a lot with uh magazine or like magazine page or cover things like that like text here you can see
Play from 1:00:41 it's all pretty flat right like it comes in sort of looking like graphic design layered on top you know everything is sort of flat you know regardless of how much else is going on in the image it's all coming in this one where is it from here this where it sort of layered it in threedimensional space I was like whoa like you know you have these like digital looking yeah it's bending that and it's like it's coming out at a different dimensional plane and it has the you know the got a foreground and background yeah yeah that same thing was it this one no it it was this one that I was just like what the like where did they even dream that up you know what I mean that that to me was so nuts I was I was like Blown Away by that I was like what the like I don't even know how to prompt that like how would you even
Play from 1:01:26 describe that like it's legitimately like different dimensional planes like you have midr background but they're coming out at a sort of like a weird like a different angle than what text would be I mean if I was graphic designing and like I came up with something like this I would be like I'm the coolest person ever you know if I was conceptualizing something like that maybe some graphic designers who are listen to your visual artists are like dude this is so simple but my maybe my brain just never worked like that I was always more you know flat plane like this where I'm like oh this makes sense you know like that that to me visually gets me or something where it's more like this right you have this minimalistic text at the bottom or at the top sort of layered in a creative way but you know there's certain things
Play from 1:02:11 here that I'm just like this is that one to me just blew my mind and I don't know why it's not to me it's like I don't really like the image that much of of this guy but I yeah like the face could be better but damn I mean like the background is like yeah it's it's so insane but what do you do you have any do you have any favorites so far from from the mood board explorers you know I thought the one thing I hadn't really figured out yet was the photography thing and I think figured it out you know so and it wasn't you know it wasn't um overly complicated either I mean I was just like going back to how how should I fill out this mood how should I be thinking about it right and so um I think from the photography stance of like photo realism you just got to make sure that they high quality
Play from 1:02:57 images uh because the Fidelity matters a lot when you're trying to do photorealistic stuff right let's just put it the way it is whereas art it it's a little bit more interpretive doesn't matter so yeah you know I when we when mood boards dropped I went a lot heavier on the art side just like the effect side and then you know I would say in the last week really going hard into the actual photography cinematic Stuff Etc so yeah I mean I I think there's there's definitely there's definitely something here that I'm really liking you know I haven't played with mixing mood board since I originally had access and didn't and now I do again uh so it's been a while since I did that they seated you they seated you a capability that no one that all about yeah I don't know maybe that was their maybe they throwing you a bone go ahead have fun um yeah man
Play from 1:03:46 overall though there I think we shared a lot of really really good info on mood boards I don't think I've seen too many people talking about this stuff in depth like like this so hopefully you guys found this piece valuable I I I'm thinking maybe we should wrap up with just kind of like office hours some of the things that we've been hearing updates blah blah blah blah blah because Do It um we mentioned this you know very anecdotally at the end of last podcast but V7 is not coming till February probably not coming I would guess till mid or end of February something with the training data but there was something that David mentioned in the last office hours I know you were on for part of it I was on for part of it I don't know if this was part of the overlap but he mentioned we're going to have more
Play from 1:04:31 changes in the next two months than we had maybe all of last year and I I thought that was like the one thing that said I was like damn because everything at once because you think about it let's talk about this right yeah V7 okay but yeah it's a new model but so what consistent characters that's a big big thing that would be the one thing that you could maybe say Midjourney is getting Smoked by other platforms on okay you fixed that wow okay that's a big change right there also they they've re-embraced they've re-engaged with 3D and it sounds like it's much it's a faster path to get there than they thought all of a sudden and I like I don't know what the hell happen they saw Korea do it and they were like oh wa they had some sort yeah yeah
Play from 1:05:18 they had some sort of breakthrough where all the sudden this is back on the radar and all of a sudden this can be done very quick so that's coming soon you've got video coming soon we'll see about soon we you we you soon Loosely here that's true that's true soon has been six months for video if we're talking next two months if we're talking like from now to the end of q1 yeah you could make a strong argument that like maybe at the end of that period of time you might have more changes than all of last year because that also would be probably v71 which again will have like the remaining things that didn't make it into V7 right because not all features and capabilities are going to be right there with V7 so keep that in mind too but you take that into consideration I heard something about like an advanced
Play from 1:06:04 editor thing coming I don't an advanced editor don't even need it but great for what like what what is the advanced editor that I don't already have that's what I'm I'm wondering it's not zoom in because somebody asked that and it's like yeah we might do it but it's not really high on the I'm like do it do that you know because like you can crop in to a degree now with editor but it depends on the aspect ratio and it's it's not enough to to where you could really call it a zoom in you know so that part of it feels you know like that could come but man I mean we're talking some big stuff here so the one out of the 10 minutes that I listened before I came back and it was chaos um in the question answer period David said one thing that I think is I don't think they overhype stuff too
Play from 1:06:50 much when like I feel like they're pretty honest about what they say like when it's like obviously like V7 coming soon regardless coming soon we don't know what that means but there's always issues but when they say something is going to be good like typically they mean it like I didn't hear anything about like I there were like people will be excited about patchwor they never said this is this is going to be awesome um but he did say that character consistency in his opinion right now was a four out of 10 which I would say is a little bit generous if you don't know what you're doing it could probably be like a two to three out of 10 they said they're going n out of 10 on this update so I want to hold them to that from accountability standpoint but I have a feeling if they're if they're that confident to say that on office hours
Play from 1:07:35 like you can't you can't drop the ball then you know what I mean like that's nine out of 10 is like I have a feeling it's going to be in the same style as moodboards I I just I just have a feeling that they're going to use that same functionality you know to train in the same way I just I don't know but maybe we'll see I think it's going to be very interesting mood boards all this stuff been interesting too in terms of like okay they've I I think if I'm an employee over there this would be my speculation but I we talked about this with personalization before personalization you could rank you could rank to help them and it would also you get a free fast hour here and there throw you bone when they turn personalization on they're now getting more insight by
Play from 1:08:22 crowdsourcing at scale they just 10x whatever they getting before oh yeah more than 10x now you know they've also got the ability to pull in all these external images including things on mood boards they have the right to use that as training data if they decide to not saying they will but you factor that in like all we're we're helping them as much as they're helping us so very symbiotic you know so symbiotic is a great word um it really is but word of the episode dude killed it I mean you just pull out you just pull out one every episode uh I'm impressed there do you know what I mean like so I I think that had to be a conversation that took place on their side of the fence of like you know we can actually crowdsource some of these things and get there
Play from 1:09:08 faster like personalization is the most symbiotic thing I've ever seen where it's like you get what you want which is images that look exactly with what you like and we understand in a total aggregate data set of what people like you know so it's just like when David's like rank everything I feel like that means you know that's just helping us when you say rank everything I don't know if it cuz I I've been able to siphon out profile codes by based on what I what I'm trying to do so it does work that way it's a very given give and take on both sides there but hey mood boards to me has been the most I've spent on the platform since SF I think and since uh basically style tuner before that which is just like I think that's I think that's probably right yeah yeah yeah cuz it's it's too much
Play from 1:09:54 fun it it is too much fun I'm I'm creating again for the for the fun of creating instead of for a purpose which is where I hope to be with some of these updates because it had been a while there are many many great things about the tool and yeah it's okay to go on one side of the fence or the other but like when you get to do all of them that that's when it's like damn this is such a it's such an interesting you know medium just call it a medium because it's it is unique you know in that sense and it's just like you know to be able to do something that's completely creative maybe not intentionally creative and then go all the way on the other side of that and then try to achieve something that's very mandated or by a creative brief or specific I mean that's just it's so fun man I mean it's just it's so fun to go
Play from 1:10:40 through that process so I I will say this as we wrap up if anybody that is listening to this knows anyone at Midjourney we need them on the podcast that is that has absolutely got to happen in 2025 guys we are trying so here's here's we're going to throw this out there we've reached out we've tried we can't seem to get through Midjourney people are ghosts I I don't know I know they've seen it they know there's a podcast out there they they might as well they might listen I mean we've seen things happen but we've got to get them on I mean the people you guys want to hear it so if anybody has a connection over there please let us know we would love to get David somebody else
Play from 1:11:25 doesn't have to be David it could just be you guys want insight and and I think that just I'm so passionate about that because this tool means a lot to a lot of people I want them to talk about things maybe they wouldn't even talk about on office hours and let's be honest not everybody can make office hours yeah you know so to have the accessibility and get that for you guys would be like priority number one for 2025 in my book so I'm just I'm going to bang the table on that just cuz I want to say it and and it's out in the atmosphere now it's out in The Ether it's it'll come back social media manager I don't even think they do social media you know whatever anyone will be accepted it's it is you know office custodian that you know I would I
Play from 1:12:11 would take that too just to see like what's going on behind the scenes hey you know what um that we we buried this at the end of the podcast but if you're still listening to this also as a kind of like you know piggy bag off that if you've got questions that you've been wanting to ask Midjourney or about the tool about the platform send them to us one of us is usually sitting on office hours we can pose that question for you and try to get it answered if you're not able to make it also it's great to to just kind of understand what you guys are thinking what are some of the questions left in your head what are some of the things that you hope they address Etc so let us know what those are and we're happy to kind of facilitate that hell yeah well with that being said I think we all know what we have to do next like And subscribe please that is uh like And subscribe
Play from 1:12:58 like And subscribe as is tradition and uh absolutely we'll be back here next week talking about God knows what you know what other rabbit hole we go down and or whoever whatever guest we find who knows what it's going to be I don't know Drew doesn't know but we're gonna do we'll come up with something we always do yeah so all right guys there it is we'll catch you guys in the next one thanks for joining us goodbye
