Play from 0:09:18 8:88:88 0:09:18 details and maybe some of these other like holding categories for different styles and and so forth so excited to get into that any particular area you want to get into first I was going back through my my prompts and looking at stuff that I use very often and often times I think there's like simple one to start out with not to go too crazy it's just like sometimes little adjectives have a lot of power so I think about you know the difference between a prompt that says man with tattoos and a man with intricate tattoos intricate to me is one of the most powerful token words in Midjourney for whatever reason it just works like it you can put it in front of anything intricate textures intricate patterns intricate this it like really understands intricate and it

Play from 0:10:05 8:88:88 0:10:05 typically dials it up because if you run the prompt against each other like without intricate or with intricate it often times pretty big like it can be a full paragraph prompt if you put intricate somewhere it changes everything so that one just want to highlight that one to start because that one's a good one and I've yeah if you're looking yeah I would say like especially I would love to hear like what types of prompts you find that to be most effective on I think what I'm thinking with that is macro shots or Q2 parameter images that you're trying to really kind of dial in that extra level of detail correct yeah so I like to use it a lot with like that's just same doing cars right like typically you know your cars can come out pretty standard and stock looking you start to put you know tuner performance with intricate details in there it'll give it like all those like

Play from 0:10:52 8:88:88 0:10:52 little you know air scoops on the side little you know brake calipers will become more uh you know pronounced like you'll get a lot more like shadowing and contouring I think it works really well with anything that's design focused too so if you have something that's like you know uh you're looking at Fashion or you're looking at some sort of clothing like intricate patterned or int intricate X texture whatever that might intricate crochet texture something like that um you know just brings it to the Forefront so i' it probably be like 10,000 images that I've run this thing with but it's uh typically patterns too like I really like it with creating patterns cuz I use you know you we've maybe talked about this on the on here before I don't know I can't remember now what are we at episode 18 or something

Play from 0:11:37 8:88:88 0:11:37 like that um like I like to layer things in to my design so like I'll create like a pattern extra just like as a pattern it'll be like you know intricate '90s ugly pattern you know symmetrical composition something like that uh so it'll generate just like a pattern with the you know color schemes would be very very detailed yeah and it it'll go on like image prompt that into whatever else I'm trying to do so if that's like a person's face or you know uh the landscape setting or real estate setting or whatever that's where to me it plays a big role CU it's really nice and uh you know that stuff can be if you're trying to create any textures patterns things like that like let me actually yeah there you go that's a good call out screw it let's pull it up let's let's go to the tape let's do it all right so

Play from 0:12:24 8:88:88 0:12:24 this is kind of what I'm talking about right like I I knew that I wanted to create see if I can find the end product real quick if I can't no big deal but this was I was trying to create like a wooden mask with a petrified wood texture right so I couldn't really do it with the prompt so I wanted to generate this separately so we have this you know intricate texture in the Petrified Wood pattern right you get some really this is even V6 so you get some really good detail there like some of this stuff is very you know way more detailed than it would be without the word intricate so like that's one uh one example of what I'm talking about I mean there's a million examples of what I'm talking about here but like we go to some of these other patterns that I like to create you know some of these are very detailed in nature which is

Play from 0:13:11 8:88:88 0:13:11 what I'm looking for to then give me like let's just say intricate Rory while you're talking about patterns what what do you typically use those for so like this one for specific right like I'm using that to create something like this where I'm layering it in as a style reference or I'm layering it in as an image prompt like this one you know to generate this sort of look right cuz some of these when you do it without like that's not giving me the petrified wood look that I want now when I use that texture right like it it comes through which is what I'm looking for which gets like this blue and uh Brown like crystallization in here so like that to me is really where it's uh it can be really helpful cuz you know if I put in intricate I mean I swear to God I think everything here if I go into some

0:13:15Detail Magic

Play from 0:13:56 8:88:88 0:13:56 of these images where it's like intricate detailing you know like this is what I'm looking for when I talk about intricate on the tuner performance side right like tuner performance intricate detailing we get all these like different variations of the hood scoop um you know the fender has like the you know the you get the little screws in here the little details the F you know the the air vents on the side right like that's the kind of stuff that I'm looking for works specifically well with cars I think you know when you look at some of this stuff too of like how clean it is you have the carbon fiber intricate details you have like the ridges on the the uh you know the ribs on the tires here it's uh it's something that I like to use a lot and often and like something you know with intricate tattoos right like they come out really defined yeah so that's what I'm that's

Play from 0:14:44 8:88:88 0:14:44 what I'm using that's a good use case too intricate for tattoos because like if you just put tattoos in general it seems like you know they don't really come out that great I mean yeah some of them are passable but they're kind of to be like they tend to have a same look to them so at least that's what I've noticed so I think like the intricate idea on layering on something like that is super cool too hold on for one second this's another good example right here this is what I'm talking about when it comes to like intricate detailing right like this one I I really like the the way that you know I added into the background in terms of intricate background details you know intricate glove design intricate shorts um you know this tattoo could be a little bit more intricate itself but you know he's got his head tattoos right like it's a very unique type of look when you start

Play from 0:15:30 8:88:88 0:15:30 adding it to everything um cuz then from there like I would take this and I would go and edit it or upscale it and then play around with some of the faces in the background to make it look less uh AI but that to me is is something that you know again you play around with this right this can go on forever you know this type of stuff just way more detailed than you would have when you start getting these these intricate details in here you start asking for them so I really love using that term and I probably overuse it at a certain point especially if someone looking for minimalism like that's not that's not me I'm a I'm an extremist kind of guy you know you're you're a maximalism guy I am a maximalism kind of guy because it it can come it can come with some really you know really insane stuff right like again you start to use this with srf

Play from 0:16:17 8:88:88 0:16:17 codes things of that nature you'll get some really cool stuff that's a really good one I mean that's and it's got that's why I wanted to dig into the use cases too because I think that is like one of those where obviously you don't want to use it on everything but it's got some really specific areas that you know it really can strengthen the image and the quality within it it's a simple one it's just one that I think you can utilize pretty much with any prompt if you want to like whatever that might be highlighting the textures highlighting the the designs highlighting you know certain elements of the of the image so I think that one's a fun one to play with I'm sure everyone uses it but maybe not as consciously but consider it yeah you know it's weird because I'll go through phes where I've used some particular tokens for a while and then I

Play from 0:17:02 8:88:88 0:17:02 completely forget about them and I never use them again but there's like that period of time where you like Sprint with them so hard you know um so it's always interesting and it's interesting to see how some of these evolve version to version because some get stronger some no longer matter or they don't do [ __ ] you know or they just they change and they're not really what they used to be so I think it's important to like take this in context of where we're at in terms of the way that you can expect the generations to um you know be created right now versus V7 it could be totally different right so totally definitely play with these things and it could also be interesting right to play with those tokens on Old images as well so something we always like to to bring up 100% that we got to go we'll have to do an episode on our on our like V4

Play from 0:17:49 8:88:88 0:17:49 prompts and stuff like that just to go back throw back in the time machine maybe we'll yeah we should all right man well hey I'll give you I'll give you a few like I just r ran a couple that I just went back to I put out a lot of like token stuff especially recently with some of the PDFs and stuff across X or LinkedIn and I think there are just some cool ones that I've used in the past that I wanted to run again and I'm not running them I I I ran these just with the the token itself and not with anything particularly uh I can go back in the history and and bring that up if we want to also but I'm out of Fast Hours so I wanted to like create something new but also at the same time like just give you a taste of what you can expect so if you think about these tokens right what it is is essentially

Play from 0:18:36 8:88:88 0:18:36 categorizing something infusing that into your image and when we talk about some of those like adjectives or like Styles or things like that like these can really make your images unique and stand out and I think that's the the key takeaway here but like color absurdism is one that I've used a lot from time to time I think this is like a really good one um this is like a multicolor absur ISM um foil holographics another one B colorism defraction I just ran those again um these are like final images whereas you can kind of like get into more of like the underlying piece of it here like here's the foil holographic right and you can see that here diffusion's another one I'll use from time to time to throw in there

Play from 0:19:21 8:88:88 0:19:21 defraction is another good one I love that like that was part of this little series that I did with like just little optical illusion like light leaks defraction things like that yeah glitch effect is another one I really really like muring does it really well they do they do like you can just kind of see the underlying tones of this right again this is just the token so if you kind of Infuse that into something else I mean that can really be powerful the other thing you can do to strengthen these tokens while I'm thinking about it Rory is and maybe something we should we should be mentioning here is you could break these out into multi prompts these right so if you're getting if you're putting glitch effect into your prompt and you're not quite getting what

Play from 0:20:07 8:88:88 0:20:07 you would like but you like the glitch effect you could do a couple things right you can move that prompt forward in the hierarchy you can sometimes be redundant which again like I always say no one's going to see your prompts like they're not going to be hanging up in the Lou right like you just you just need to create them so sometimes like to really push or stress emphasis you could repeat keyword or tokens and then obviously like the multi prompt thing right like you could essentially break glitch effect out into its own multi prompt put a weight on that and then put the rest of your prompts right and then you can really dial it in and so I think that's really important to mention and another way you could really leverage these right and so something to think about here's like optical flares things like that right so these all I mean these all can really uh provide a

Play from 0:20:53 8:88:88 0:20:53 uniqueness to your IM image motion blur is another one that we I think we might have touched on it last time I to get into that but um yeah man these are like color examples too where I think color is sometimes underused and so if you can find a style or an effect it's a good little succinct way to put some juice into it I like that bold colorism and so glitch effect definitely use that one a lot we should definitely talk about some color now that we're now that we're on the uh now that we're on the topic cuz there's some yeah let's do it really there's some really cool ones that are like again like like pretty solid holding categories I think let me pull this bad boy up color blocking I'm really a fan of color let me do this and organize actually so we can just see more color blocking

Play from 0:21:39 8:88:88 0:21:39 typically like to me works very well so it's like a way to get sort of like multiple colors in but in very like defined areas it'll work very well in like cityscapes and things like that tends to tends to get like some really good sort of like break of color so like less less mixing and mashing of it and mostly just like separating each color if that's the best way to put it I found it works extremely well in in like landscape Styles like things like that so it's a great way especially depending on what you're prompting like this one I had it in the Brazilian favellas right it's just it's just like great the way that it does this to me like I love that just using colorful you know color blocking actually makes it sort of like symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing I

Play from 0:22:27 8:88:88 0:22:27 love how it did it here in some of these like motion blur shots it's basically looks like color blocks right I mean simple but this kind of stuff like to me I love how it separates the colors and it gives it sort of like a definition and its own sort of Storytelling in a sense to it so that one is fun when it comes to color token this other one let me see if this one actually works and of course as I'm on this podcast can't find the exact photo that I want but typically like the tonal transition it'll start sort of like dark in the foreground and light as you get to the background so you'll start with sort of like this uh you know I don't want to say silhouetted but almost like a darker foreground and a lighter background like a dynamic range yeah so like here of course like you have like the you know sort of like a darker aesthetic in the

Play from 0:23:12 8:88:88 0:23:12 front but as you go back it gets more illuminated same thing here like you see the lights in the background same thing here like the lights go in the background so I'm always been like a you know I like my tones but I think this might actually be a better example here so like we have like right here perfect one you know a little bit darker in the front like on this left side of the image and then as you go backwards you have like this light coming in from the back so like we're transitioning right from like this either this darker area into like this lighter area now these are just some of the examples that I was looking for but same sort of theory here like dark in the foreground or this one technically could be in the mid-ground but more bright in the background so it's a good way to think about it also works with uh with colors pretty well so I like to you know when I look at something like this right like we have

Play from 0:23:57 8:88:88 0:23:57 like this tonal transition if it working with colors where you have like the blue the blue goes to the red to the blue the blue goes to the red right like it's like a whole sort of like combination and sort of mixing effect which it understands so yeah I think that's a was that tonal tonal transition is that what that was tonal transition that was a uh that was one of the one this is from V5 that's a I hadn't heard that one before I'd run like dynamic range before it's been a while doing that right now but we're I'm in slow mode I'm out of Fast Hours here so who knows if that'll have actually happened on the Pod but that's what I saw with that right which is the separation in dynamic range is essentially like the range that exists from the darkest darks to the lightest lights yeah right and how big that range is and so that was interesting and even that last example you just showed right

Play from 0:24:44 8:88:88 0:24:44 you had great Lighting on the subject in the foreground and then right behind him in the back of the car it was almost completely dark right which again that in conjunction with the out of focus element of the background really allows the subject to come forward and be the so sole Focus which is just great photography principles in general so I love that one and then you know from if we're going if we're on tones like extreme tonal balance I tend to like this one a lot as well it just always seems to it always seems to produce well for me like I always love this mixture of dark and light in a photo like just like this heavy contrast in terms of the dark and Light Within the images I OB I use this thing a lot but I'm going to see if I can find like again like something thing where we have you know

Play from 0:25:33 8:88:88 0:25:33 like this one to me it's like exactly the same right like we have this this heavy dark and Light Elements in a photo where these can be you know again something that we're looking at always as like a contrasting type situation cuz I think it provides a lot of a lot of like like you said like a visual it's like very very much so draws your eye to these things so when I'm using it I'm always trying to figure out like again this a good probably a better example here where again like this is super super high dark and super high light you know like that's that's kind of where we're always looking towards again this one too you have like these bold Shadows on the outside you know the light patterns coming through um you know and it's like leading towards the you have like the little window here but she's also dark so it's really good for black and white too our shots especially in

Play from 0:26:19 8:88:88 0:26:19 black and white like I love sort of like this faded vignette on the end like where this you get this super dark car with this super bright sky so that's always been uh that's always been one of my favorite most utilized tokens I think I don't know about uh the best way to put it but I you can see everything I feel like you love you love that you love tonal balance you love ethereal lighting you love I think you like volumetric lighting too I do I like it on global illumination Global illumination you like that yes sir which you know look there's a lot of of light and Shadow stuff we could talk about here here and you know with light and Shadow from a photography standpoint or the lack thereof right is just one of

0:26:30Color Play

Play from 0:27:05 8:88:88 0:27:05 the most powerful things that you can leverage so I think you know we were talking about it on last week's episode with ChatGPT you know it's worth exploring different lighting and shadows and things like that and testing and experimen with them to see if they work in Midjourney in the current version right because if you're too vag you're relying on the model to produce something and if you're relying too much on the model to make something it could look good but it's probably going to look very different than other things that are being created which is again going to be one of the longer term things that's going to separate you using this tool from somebody else is the ability to create Unique Images creative images images that tell stories right and so all that I think is is super super important you know what like a simple one for lighting too and I think I haven't used this in a long time

Play from 0:27:52 8:88:88 0:27:52 but at the beginning I was which was highkey lighting and lowkey lighting yes and the difference there right so High key just raises everything up right in terms of you get more light and lowkey makes it a little bit more dark and moody right so that like that can be a great way to just boom you put in one token and that completely changes the image which I think is again like one of the key things about this particular episode the fact that you can replace you know typing out a full sentence versus just sliding in a keyword or a token so it if you want more control you can describe it right like you can describe each piece of it um if you want to let Midjourney run wild use a more generic or more general term like that like highkey lighting you know like that

Play from 0:28:37 8:88:88 0:28:37 Midjourney will take that and run with it but if you want you know to specify what is being painted by the light or what is being you know what is really being affected by the Light sometimes that helps too so just depend what you're going for okay so going back to going back to lighting Shadows you know like I was I I put out um a token went on Shadows just I think yesterday or the day before solid one by the way and I I Revisited one that I hadn't thanks man I Revisited one that I hadn't used in a while and I again one of those ones I forgot about let me show you what I'm talking about here penumbra Shadows who penumbra Shadows okay so let me give you like a few examples so it's penumbra Shadows are essentially like
